Revolutionary greetings to Comrade M.A. Baby, Secretary General of CPI(M)

Comrade Mariam Alexander Baby, popularly known as Comrade M.A. Baby, was elected as the Secretary General of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] at the party’s 24th Congress held in Madurai. He succeeds Comrade Sitaram Yechury, who passed away due to ill health in September 2024.

Comrade Baby was elected to the Politburo of the CPI(M) during the party’s 20th Congress held in Kozhikode, Kerala, in 2012.

He began his political journey with the CPI(M)’s student wing, the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), and later served as the Education Minister of Kerala. He has also been elected twice to the Rajya Sabha.

The National Trade Union Federation Pakistan (NTUF) congratulates Comrade Mariam Alexander Baby on his election as Secretary General of the CPI(M).

Working people across the region hope that under his revolutionary leadership, the party will advance the ideological struggle against rising religious extremism and capitalist oppression, and continue the fight for genuine democracy—ensuring peaceful coexistence among countries and nations, and securing progress and social justice for billions across the region.
